Facts about cabin air quality on-board large transport aircraft.
Why is it important?
The purpose of this project is to find FACTS on the subject of aircraft cabin air quality, and in particular on the potential toxicity of contaminated bleed air. The FACTS project will build on the already available know-how from earlier European and international projects; and will complement this with novel insights into causes and possible toxicological effects of contaminations. The results from FACTS could propose potentially useful mitigation strategies and provide recommendations for further research.
Please note: throughout the website, the term ‘cockpit and cabin’ will be shortened to ‘cabin’ for ease of reading.
This project proposes an innovative approach towards tackling the challenge of identifying the potential toxicity of engine-added contamination to bleed air.
